AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY COLLEGE. I GILLIES SCHOLARSHIP. .. One Gillies Scholarship of £70 a year, tenable for three years, is offered for competition in OCTOBER NEXT. This Scholarship is open to all persons (male or female) born in the Dominion of New Zealand who, at the time of examination, shall be between the ages of 16 and 20 years, and who have not kept terms or attended' lectures pr held a Bcholarship in any University or College, and who 6hall satisfy the •Council of the College that neither they nor their parente or guardians can obtain for them a university education without pecuniary aid. The holder ofjhis Scholarship will not bo allowed to 'hold concurrently a Junior University Scholarship. Candidates will be examined' in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry, and will be required to •write an English Essay on a subject selected by the Examiners. The standard of the Examination will be the same as tlhat for the Junior Scholarships of the University New Zealand. Special weight will be given to attainments and : capacity in Physics and in Chemistry. Candidates are required to give in their names ' on or before OCTOBER 1, 1913, to the : Registrar, from whom further information can bo obtained. The Examination will be held about the end of OCTOBER at Auckland, Wellington, Chriatchurch, and Dunedin.
