RETURN OF EXPENDITURE,

WELLINGTON, July 18. A return was presented to the Honee of Representatives to-<lay, furnished on the motion of Mr H. M. Campbell, showing the cost of trips abroad of Ministers in the recent recess. Tho following was the information contained in the return :—
Cost of each of the last .three visits to England of the Rt. Hon. Sir J. G. Ward : (a) Conference of. Prime Ministere, 1907.—Grant to Prime Minister £1500; grant to private secretary, £550;— total, ±12050.
(b) Imperial Defence Conference, 1909. —Grant to Prime Minister, £800; grant to private sccretarv, £450; passage money to Sydney for MrF.G. Matthews, £12;— total, £1262. (c) Coronation of the King, 1911.—Grant to Prime Minister, £1500; grant to private secretaries (2), £459 10s;—total, £1959 103.
Cost of the visit to England of the Hon. Sir J. G. , Findlay.—Grant to Sir J. G. Findlay, £800; grant to private secretary, £301 10b;—total, £1101 10s Cost of the visit to England of the Hon. J. Allen.-Qrant to Mr Allen, £1COO; grant to private secretary, £450; —total, £1450.
Cost of the visit to South Africa of the Hon. G. Fowlds.—Grant to the Hon. Mr Fowlds, £450; grant to private secretary; £200;-total, £650. Cost of the visit to Australia of the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher to arrange a reciprocal tariff agreement.—Travelling allowance to Mr Fisher, £79 10s; travelling expenses of Mr Fisher, £67 15s_; travelling allowance and expenses of private secretary, £107 15s; expenses of return luncheon to Federal Ministry, £32 15s 6d;— total, £287 15s 6d.
