His Honor Mr Justice Williams will return from-Invercargill by the second express to day. Mr John H, Lowe, for many years chief engineer for working railways in New Zealand, is at present on a visit to the dominion, after an absence in India and the Homeland, and in company with his daughter, Mies Lowe, is expected to arrive ih Dunedin this evening from the north. Mr James Burnett, the present chief engineer, is travelling with' Mr Lowe. Several changes have taken place in tho personnel of the Milton Post Office staff during tho week. Mr F. A. Stuart, lotcer carrier, has been (transferred to Dunedin, Mr J. Kane has) been promoted to tho Oamaru gallery as cadet, and_ Mr C. H. Beck (Dunedin) -has been appointed junior exchange clerk. Prior to his departuro for Oamaru • Mr Kane was presented with an umbrella. Dr W..F. Neil, F.RC.S, F.ngland, who left here for London six years ago is now 'on a visit co his home in Dunedin. For three years he was senior resident surgeon at tho general hospital, Nottingham. Latterly he has spent some months visiting famous clinics-at Berlin and Vienna, He purposes returning to ■ England in a' few weeks time.
Nurse Sutherland, of tho Chalet Hospital, Dunedin, who represented the New Zealand Trained Nurses' Association at tho International Congress of nurses in Germany, /returned to Dunedin on Thursday after a year's travel, during which time she has circled the globe and visited many hospitals in Groat Britain' arid Canada, and also in the States. She has come back with the impression that the New Zealand standard of nursing is in many cases higher than that,, of other countries, and compares favourably with any of them. Sho found the Canadian nurses very much interested in tho work that is being done in New .Zealand. They wore anxious to hfar as much about, this country as possible. They said they had always admired this country from afar, and they Ivero pleased to hear more about it from one who had come such a long distance. Mr and Mrs Robert Longley celebrated their golden .wedding, at the residence of thoir Mr ' A.. S. Sinclair, Kaikorai Valley, on tho 27th of last month. A large gathering of relations and friends assembled. Mr and Mrs Longley with their family arrived in the dominion 39 years ago in tho ship Hindustan. They resided' at Mornington for 25 years, and afterwards shifted-, to Invorcnrgill, where thoy followed dairy fanning for a number of years. They have now retired and aro living at Cambridge, in the Wnikato. Their family consisted of nine children, three sons and six daughters—Mrs Chilcott, To Kuiti; Mrs. Norman. Mornington: Mrs Paris, Cambridge; Mrs Sinclair, Roslynj Mrs Chappel, Auckland; Mrs Vivian. Dunedin; Mrs Robt. Longley, Inverearefll; Mr Arthur Longley, Cambridge; and Mr John Lonriey, Auckland. ' Their grandchildren numbered 29, and thoir groat-grandehildron eight. Mr nncl Mrs Longley nro enjoying the best of health, and _ received numerous congratulations from friends all over the dominion.
