AUCKLAND, March 7.

Farmers in all parts o£ the province are nwaiting rain anxiously. Reports from I' various centres state -that the grass is disappearing rapidtyj while the country ~ 'settlers are badly in need of heavy rain , ;to replenish their supplies.

DARGAYCLLE, March 7. Suspicion created by the prolonged absence of the chief clerk of the Wairoa '! Stores (Ltd,), led to an examination of 'the books, and defalcations amounting to . ; several hundred pounds are alleged to '"have been discovered. A warrant has ' been issued for the arrest of the absentee, ; who is supposed to have left the dominion.

NELSON, March 6. ; At a meeting of delegates of the local bodies and tie last night it' was decided that Nelson should be represented jit the Auckland exhibition by a district court, and arrangements were mode to obtain the necessary guarantee.
