It had been a very trying month ow:ng to tho seventy of the attacks of iEness. The isolation ward had practically never been out of ■use, and, of necessity, 6peoial intrsea had to be set apart to nurse the babies there. Regret was expressed at the death of fivo babies, but, on the other hand, thero were eome very good recoveries. The number of visitors was' 287. Nurse Wright went oa district work on February 10. Nurses Kilgour and Purcell successfully passed their examinations, ,ind left for their respective appointments —the former as travelling district Plunket nurse for Canterbury, a»d the latter as Plunket nurse for Hastings. Nurses • Bull and Hurstihonee entered for training as Plunket nurses, and Misses Wilkie and Coats as Karitano nurses. A letter ivas received from the Hon. Secretary of the British Women's Empire Association, Imperial Institute, London, asking that Mifs Skene, of Greenock Infirmary, Scotland, bo entered at KaritaneHarris Hospital for trailing as a Plunket mrree. .

Tho Plunket Nurses' report stated that the iHimber of babies under care was 490; Dew cases, 43; visits to homes, 598; mothers' visits to Plunket worn, 79; humanised milk (specials), 3946; humanised milk (ordinary), 1070. ■ The work in the district had been very heavy, so many sck babies roquiim? almost daily visits from tho nurses. Mothers of the older babies were again requested to bring them to the Plunket room. Fourteen mothers had been shown how to make humanised milk, six going away on holiday and eight leaving' to livo in tho country.
