DR HODGKIN. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, March 4. The death is announced of Dr Thomas Hodgkin, the historian.

Thomas Hodgkin, D.0.L., Litt. D., was born at Tottenham on July 29, 1831. He was educated at Grovo Houso School, Tottenham (Society of Friends), and University Colege, London (8.A.). He was a partner in the banking-firm of. Hodgkin, Barnett, and Co., Newcastle-on-Tyne (now amalgamated with Lloyd's Bank), 1859-1902, and sinoe 1874 had dovotcd his leisure time to historical composition, and had completely retired from business for some yeare past. He was tho author of several publications dealing with historical and political subjects. He spent the year 1909 in a visit to Australia and New Zealand, and was much interested in the question, of emigration to those countries.
