GAELIC SOCIETY.

The ordinary monthly meeting of tho Gaelio Society was held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Stuart street, last niglit, and, as usual, was well attended. The Chief, Mr Dugald M'Phersoh, occupied the chair, and in opening the proceedings read a telegram from Chieftain Roderick Mackenzie, from Oamaru, wishing all present a pleasant evening. The Chief also read a letter from tho correspondence 'secretary c*f the Scottish Henne Rule Association of New York, conveying good wishes for the New Year, and expressing the hope that Scotland would soon have her own Parliament Once more; also asking to hear of the work of tho society, and especially what part it was taking in the Homo Rule movement. The usual programme of musio, eong, and dance was afterwards enjoyed, the items being as follow:—Gaelio song, "Faill ill a agus ho-ro eile," Dan Matheson, jun.; song, " Lochnagar," and encore recitation, "The Ride of Jenny M'Neill," Mrs Niven; seauireus, Miss Flora M'Donald; Highland reel, the audience; Gaelic song, "Air fall-al-al-o," Mrs Murray; sword danoe. Miss Louden; Gaelic song, "Mo run gealdileas," Mr M'Kerihnie; song, "Bonnie Mary of Argyll," and encore, " Ye banks and brae 3 o' bonnie Doon," Miss Duncan; first set of quadrilles, the audienoe; song, " The wreck of the Titanic," Miss Barrowolongh: dance, "Highland Fling," Miss Bain; Gaelic song, "0 ohi chi ohi mi na mhorraenin," Miss M'Donald; f Highland sohottische, tho audience; Gaelic song, "Eilean a cheo," Mrs 'Murray; song, " The old house," Mrs M'Niven; Highland reel, the audience; first set of quadrilles, the audience, a Pipe-major M'Keohnie, assisted by Mr Alastair M'Donald, Mr John M'Lean,_and Mr A. J. M'Kay, played the national music, and Miss L. Reeve played tho ao* companimonfs.
