FIRES.
(Pee United Press Association.) GISBORNE, March 5. The woolshed at Sherratt's, Mangatoetoo Station, has boon destroyed by fire. It was insured in the Royal Exchange Office for £150. Tho residence of Mr J, Wilson, Tearai, was destroyed by fire list night, Mr Wilson being severely burned. Tho house was insured for £225 in the National Office. ASHBURTON, March 5. Last night a threshing mill, owned by Bcnnison Bros., was destroyed by fire. It is not known how tho fire originated. The mill was valued at £200, and was insured in tho North British Offioo for £115. A fire occurred at Sd. Leonards yesterday afternoon, when an eight-roomed wooden dwolling, owned by Mrs Jane Barclay and occupied by Mr S. G. Smith, was totally destroyed. It appears that the fire broke out abont 4.30 p.m., when there was no one at home. The bouse was insured for £500 in tho Victoria Oftico, and the furnituro in the Atlas Office, but tho amount was not available last night. A fire was loft burning in tho grate when tho occupants left for Dunedin shortly after lunch, but how tho outbreak occurred is not known.
