COMPULSORY TRAINING.
■xu uih tun on Sib,—As an employer who so far has not objcctcd to oompuiuory training, 1 wou:d like to ask if you consider it a square deal that employers of labour should be compelled to a.low their employees to go to tlu camp in (Jeniral Otsgo ior two wteka ui April wncn tho Dcitmsu Office fails to carry out tiie Act with respcct to Government employees'/ Since the Act has been in force the Government has utteriy failed to carry out the training ot its employees, and in the couutry, wlu.e private employees are forced to attend parades sud camp 3, Government employees are compelled or allowed to shirk their duties. The attendance of privato employees at this camp for practically two weeks >v:ll seriously harass business men and farmers, yet tho Defence authorities fail to compel Government oflicials similarly to observe the law! Considering the Government is a passive resistor to its own Aot, it says a good deal for its contempt for public opinion that the authorities continue to prosecute other passive resistors who are not employed in the public service I Surely, Sir, under such circumstances, private employers and employees have just cause for complaint at such a one-sided compulsion ?—I am, etc., ' Square Deal.
