The, death took place on the Bth mst. (says a Press Association message) of ono o! the oldest horsemen in Now Zealand, Mr Jamca Wattie. Deceased was about 55 y«a« of age, and in his younger days was one or the boat riders iu the country. lie had wins to his credit in nearly all the big classical events connected 'with the New Zealand turf, including the victory in the first Auckland Cup ever run. Deceased, up to the time of his death, had been associated with the stables of Mr Georgo Absolum, at Ellerslio.
