FARMERS UNION.

WELLINGTON PROVINCIAL EXECU- . TIVE. (Per United Pbess Association.) PALMERSTON N., January 20. A well-attended meeting of the Wellington Provincial Executive of the Farmers' Union was held at Palmerston North to-day. Mr J. G. Wilson presided, and representatives were present from the Wairarapo, and the West Coast branches. Regarding the proposal for the importation of farm labour, the meeting expressed the opinion that the Sedgwick scheme of importing boys was better than getting out men for farm work.

It was decided to communicate'' with the various branches of the union regarding the schemo for mutual co-operation between the members of the union for the disposal of stock. The proposal emanated from a letter from tho Pelorus Sound branch, where the farmers apparently are dissatisfied with the prices of stock as oompared with the North Island after allowing for sliipping charges.
