ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

GISBORKK, Norember 4. _ A mishap occurred at Rakuroa tins morning, when a man named D. Gavigan, who win engaged in connection with the construction of t.ho Rakuroa Station bridge, fell from tlie top of tho pier, a distance of 40ft, and, it is feared, sustained internal injuries. Gavigan was formerly a sailor aboard tho Star of Canada, and after tho wreck he gave up tho sea, finding employment on tho railway works two or threo months ago The unfortunate man was brought to town without dclav, the Pub'io Works Department putting on a special train. The man was at once removed to tho hospital, and it is reported that ho is in a serious condition.
NAPIER, November 4. Andrew Robertson, an old resident, 67 years of age, was found drowned on tho town beach early this morning. He arrived in Now Zealand in the early soventics, and came to Napier u few years later. He had resided hero over since. He leaves a grownup family ol five. At tho adjourned inquest on the body of John Gunn, tho boxer, tho evidence of his employer and intimate friends showed that ho had been depressed about tho decisions given against him in tho Australasian eliaiiipionshipj A verdict of suicide wh|i o •temporarily insane was returned.
