Tho total number of mortgages registered from April 1, 1911, to March 31, 1912, was 23.133, and the amount £22.803.367. The rates of interest charged ranged from 1 per cent, to 20 per cent. The amount lent at the former interest was £10,544, and at the latter rate- a total oi only £362 was lent. The largest amount under any one heading- was the total of £2,417,655, lent at 4i per cent The total amount of mortgages released during the year was £15,334,559, and the total amount owing at March 31 was £50,133,264.
