Allen laid on Urn tabic of tho House today tho following statement of thi> receipts ami expenditure of tho Consolidated Fund (ordinary revenuo account) for tho six months endod September 30, 1912, as compared with the corresponding period for 1911:— Kecchit.s for 1512 were £4,982,980; 1911, £4,812.954; being an increase of £170,026. Expenditure (permanent appropriations) for 1912, £1,1(79,832; 1911, £1.774,206; being an increase of £106,830. Annual appropriations for 1912, £2,921,3-16; 1911, £2,701.992; being an increase of £216,345. After transferring £50,000 to the Public Works Fund the total expenditure was: For 1912, £4.851.178; for 1911, £4,479,198. The bidance. on September 30. 1912, was £939,073; and in 1911, £920,259. _ Sir Joseph Ward said that it was very interesting to hear the statement, but it did not appear to him that tho expenditure could be reliable, teonusc the position of tho improstets could bo finally known at this date. 'Die expenditure, hii said, the Minister would admit, was only approximate. The Minister: Yes, approximate. Sir .10.-eph went on to say, in reference to tho falling oif in L'uMa'ns duties, that it was due to tho effects of tho strike in I/>ndon. The increaeo in the costs of working tho railways was partly due to the higher wages granted to the railway servants and the year's working as a wh >!o wotild lx> very good. All the indications throughout the country were for a good year. The Minister agreed that over tho next six mon'Jis there would Ik; a considerable increase in revenue.
