WANGANUI HARBOUR.

PROGRESS OK IMPROVEMENTS,

VVAXGANUI, November 2. The Wangiuui engineer (Mr Hawarth) reported to the Harbour Board last evening that th« old bar at the entrance ot the river had practically disappeared, there being an improved depth duo to scour of 2ft 6in where the bar formerly existed, and where three or four years ago there was between 10ft and lift there was now 25ft 6in. The bar is 600 ft beyond the end of the moles, where the depth is 22ft 6in, and the board proposes extending the moles another 1500 ft, whore the depth will be 30ft to 40ft, The engineer says vessels drawing 30ft ran now enter tiie port.
