KAITANGATA HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

The Knitangata Horticultural Society held its annual surinij show in tho Kaitangata Presbyterian Church Hall on Friday Jast. Tho exhibits. though comparatively few in number, were of excellent quality, ami came in for much favourable comment. As usual, the show was strong in its etisplav of narcissi, Messrs Aitcliison, Sharnioii, aim 1/avcry showing Home very fine blooms. There was sonic very korn competition in the ooronati classes. Cut flowers wore very good, especially tlio display of tulips, some very fine blooms being exhibited. The school children's entries in the narcissi classes were very good. Tlio decorative section came in for much favourable comment, The decorated baskets, bowls, and vases reflected great credit on the exhibitors. Thcro was a. falling otT in the number of competitors in Hie decorated tables. The pot piants, ihough few in number, were very good, ami added greatly to the beauty of the display. Mr Naish (Hnlclutha) carried out his duties as judge in a very creditable manner, and gave general satisfaction by his decisiont-'. Ho expressed himself as lieing highly pleased with the conditions of all the oxhiTiits, anil considered that the show was tho best he had seen this season.

In tlio, evening a very enjoyable concert was held in connection with the show, and tho hall was crowded by an appreciative audience. Hi* worship the Mayor of Knitangata (Mr William Coulter) was in the chair, supported by Mr George Aitcliison (tho president of the society). Items wero contributed by the Knitangata orchestra, Mr Coop (souk). Misses 1. and J. Sniaill (duet), Mrs J. C. Anderson (recitation), Mr William M'Donnell (song), Mioses Smiu'll hikl Krazor (pianoforte duel), Messrs Coop, .loncs, Mrs Jones, and Miss Farquhar (quartet), Mrs Jones (song), Messrs G. and A. Aitcliison and Mr Si/inn (trio). Mr Smith (piccolo solo), Mr Cockrott (song). Messrs llobcrixm and Co. displayed a numlier of moving pictures. At the conclusion of the concert Mr \Y. R. Meclinelis, secretary of the society, moved a hearty vote of thanks to tho performers, and this was carried by acclamation.
