A good dribbling rush, headed by Corcoran, was spoiled by an Otago player catching him from tho rear. Talboya stopped a dangerouslooking rush by taking a mark near the halfway flag. Patterson took the ball, and drop kicked a coal, making the scores equal. After thi« South Tuapeka played strongly for a time, lxit the perfect com- ■ bination of their opponents was too strong, and in quick succession three tries—nil secured by Russell—from nice passim; rushes were added to the Otago score. Half-time sounded with the scores:

For South Timpeka, Patterson played the beat liaek game, his sureness in fielding and his strong kicks saving his side time and again. The gamo was an interesting one from the spectator's point of view, and the exhibition of the open passing game given by the visitors will do much to improve tho game in this district.
