JUBILEE GATHERING.
Another of those interesting functions commemorative of the arrival of pioneer settlers was celebrated yesterday afternoon and evening, when the surviving passengers of tho ship Gmsmcre, to the number of 13, assembled at the residence of Mrs W. II; Adams, a daughter of one of those interested. Of this number lour tiro residents of Duncdm-viz.: Miss Helen 1). Slcwarl aiid Messrs Walter Itiddcll, Peter Sutherland," nnd Thomas Dagger. The nine others present wore Mcsdames Glass (Ratanui) and Ritchio (Beaconsfiold), and Messrs William l'rydo and John Prydc (Mataura), Androw Prydc (Ifcaoonsficld), James Park (Mataura). Alesmider Wisely (Milton), Robert flyers (Stirling), and James Findlay (Hampden). Four passengers were unable' to be present—Mr and Mrs James Roy (Wairuna), Mrs Divers (Clinton), and Mrs Taylor (Ashley DownsJ.-bul telegrams of greetings and* congratulations passing between the gathering in Dunedin .-utd those brought them together in spirit. Thc_ late Dr Douglas, of Frankton llofipilnl (Wakalipu), was tlio ship's doctor, beloved by all on board, and a fine protosrruph of him wiw | of great interest to the gathering. A group ! photograph was taken, and a unique sou- ' vrnir card containing the autographs of 1 all present will doubtless be hichly 1 Irwisurrd. The executive of the Early Settlers' Association was represented by the ' secretary (Mr J. Wood), who conveyed the association's greetings and congratulations.
