The latter had taken tile matter up very keenly, iitul bad approached some £0 members of Parliament by circular, urging upon them the desirability ot introducing legislation on the subject nnd recommending the complete abolition of the pea rifle. A letter was also read from the Minister of .lustice (the Hon. A. L Ilerdman) acknowledging a communication on the subjcct from the secretary of the society, and stating that the recommendations would bo considered.-The commit tee decided to support the inurement us much as possible. Correspondence was read from a leading carrying company in Ditiiedin in conncction with injuries sustained bv its horses through the carlestness of certain people in sweeping nails, hoop iron, etc., in ftrcot.s, right-of-ways, and yards, I>oth public and private. This was stated to be a very prevalent cause of injury to animals, and as many as three or four horses had been known to W incapacitated within n week.— The coinmittce decidcd to have large cards printed and sent to the various lirms and contractors in Diiuetlin with a view to bringing the matter before the notice of the public. The inspector's report as to the enscn seen lo and places visited was read and approved.
The Secretary reported that ho had administered cautions to-several offenders within the past few weeks, and liis action in tho matter was approved. It was decided that in future the committee should meet on the second Tuesday of the month.
