Johnstono wrote notifying tho board of a donation of £100 to the> Dunedin Hospital on tie part of Mr «!• T. Wricht, of Wright, Stephenson, and Co. Received with thanks. Tho Secretary of the Domestici Scienco Department of tho Women's Christian Teinporanco Union wrote inviting representatives from the board to a meeting ?' representatives from bodies engaged philanthropic work to consider the question of domestio science as it related to the (tomestio help difficulty.'-Messrs l»nrnach and Ewing wero appointed delegates to represent tho board at tho meeting. The Town Clerk wrote stating that tho Finance Committee of the City Council had 'approved of tho method of settlement of tho Hospital levy fcr the year-namely, that tho council should pay the sum of tdl 0s 6d to wljust its contribution for the year, the balance (£57 19s 6d) to bo written o t by tho board. Tho writer added that tho arrangement did l not givo to tho council what it was justly entitled to, as tho practical effect of the board's not collecting tho latter sum was that the board a finances would bo short of that, amount, and tho city would ultimately pay with other contributory bodies its sharo of the same. It was with tho idea of helping the board out of a difficulty in regard to its revenue, together with a desire of bringing llioso negotiations to a conclusion, that tilo committcc i had agreed to accept tho board's compromise.— The Chairman said that, in his opinion, a quito fair adjustment had been arrived at — The letter was received.
BEPOBT9. Tho reports of the Benevolent, Sanatorium, l''inunce, ond Hospital Committees were adopted without discussion. The board's architect reported on tho proposals to alter and add to tho accommodation at tho Pleasant Valley Sanatorium. The proposals provide tor additionnlaccommodatian for patients and alterations to tho kitchen and laundry, tho laboratory, and tho oßico, and' tho provision of further accommodation for th> director and staff. Tho present accommodation is for 42 patients, and it is proposed to increase this to 59. It is intended, states the report, to immediately erect at the rear of the present buildings a compact pavilion with 12 singlo cubiclcs, with lavatory block and nurses duty room. It is also proposed.to erect a new laundry near the caretaker's residence, as the laundry is at present inconveniently situated and away from tho drving ground. Tho presont laundry will then do converted into the kitchen, to bo connected by a corridor with tho main building. A new mortuary will bo providod in connection with the laundry. It was further suggested that two residences should be erected in tho paddock on the north side of tho gully adjoining the Sanatorium for tho use of director and stair. A small footbridge will connect those houses with tho main buildings of the institution. Provision was made for a total 'of 12 nurses.—Tho report was referred to the Sanatorium Committee.
