(Peb United Press Associates.) WELLINGTON, August 22. Tiie bto Mr T. 0. Macarthy'a will wm sworn for probate at half a million by the Public Trustoo, but the real value will not be known until n fresh valuation is mndc by officials of the Probate Onice. The court was applied to for probate yesterday, but under the rule providing that it could not be granted within a week of the death application was deferred. It is exported that a spocial act of Parliament will bo necessary to enable the provisions o£ tho will as to educatioiuil and cliaritablo purposes to be earml out. After the death of the widow the great property bequeathed lx> her is also to be applied to the fame purpose. The deceased left the following be* quests Mrs Charlotte Noad, Ixmdon, a niece, £5000; Annie Tottman, her sister, £15000; Edith, daughter of Mr Samuel Gilmer (Royal Oak Hotel), £1000; Ooraldino Henry and Kathleen Henry, daughters of the late Dr Henry, £51030 cachj Mother Mary Aubcrt, £1000 for her cliaritahle institutions; Mrs Batkins, £1000; to the charitable institutions of Geelong, £1000; to his wife, an annuity of £1200; to her oistcr-in-law, £300; to his mother-in-law, £100: to his carter, £130, and to his widow after. To liis wife lie bequeaths all tho furniture, effects, jewellery, etc., and two houses in lionlcolt 6troet, the proceeds from which are to be continued to the husband and children if the widow remarries. The residue of the estate is entrusted to the Public Trustee, who is to pay one-half the annual incomo to Mrs Maourthy, awl after her to her husband and children; the other half is to be applied to educational n-iicl charitable purposes in the province of Wellington. Tho Public Trustoo •is to pay the incomo to a board of trustees, who will have the distribution thereof. Tho testator declares by his will that lie hoped to execute a further will giving details as to tho charitable bequests, but if he failed to do so the board is to liavo absolute discretion. Tho Public Trustee is given wide powers for the management of the property. THE FUNERAL. (Peb United Press Association.) ' WELLINGTON, August 22. The funeral took place this morning in the Karori Cemetery. At 9 o'clock solemn requiem Ma.w was celebrated in St. Mary of the Angels Church Mass was said by (he l{ev. i'ather M'C'arthy. In addition to Mrs T. li. Macarthy there wore also present in the santuary Dean Regnault, Dean O'Sliea, R-an Tubman, Rev. leathers A. Herring, S.M., Goggan, 8.M., Murray, C.S.S., M'Dermott, C.S.S.R., and Daly, S.M. Amongst the clergy present in the body of the church were the Rev. Dr Kennedy (rector of St. Patrick's College), Dean Lane, Rev. Fathers Peoples, O'Reilly, Hickson, and J. Herring. After Mass the cortege left for Karori. The gathering of the public men was a large and representative one, and included the Hoi. A. Ij. Ilerdman (Attorney-general), representing tho Government, Sir Joseph Ward, the Hons. R. A. Louglman and ll Gilmer, M.L.C.'s, Mr D. M'Laren (Mayor of Wellington), Mr J. U. Harcourt (president of the Wellington Racing Ulnb), Councillors Godber, l-'itzgcrald, Mr Trevor (chairman of tho Hospital and Charitable Aid Hoard), Mr Charles Plimmer, Drs Pollen and Martin, the Rev. Van Staveren, Mr C. P. Skcii'ct, K.C.j JlMsrs Martin . Kennedy, W. C. Gasquoine, W. H. Bellinger, James Ames, J. E. Henrys, the i Hon. T. W.
