FIRE IN INVERCARGILL.
(I'm Ukitid Pbesb Association.) INYKRCARGir.L. March 8. Fire occurred at midnight in the premises of W. E. Hutcher, tailor, which were gutted. The (lames spread lo the roof of the adjoining shops, in which ! the stocks we'" considerably damaged by | smoke and water. The following arc the insurances w the stocks Butcher, £550 in the. New Zealand and £450 in the South firitish; T. Rankin, jeweller. £900 in the South liritish and £900 in the Victoria; Holmes, bootmaker, £700 in the New Zealand; 0. Gilchrist, chemist, £300 in the Victoria, £350 in tho Commercial Union, and £100 in the Alliance. The building was insnred for £1200 in the Norwich Union and £600 in tho Guardian. It is estimated that it will cost £700 to repair it. The loss on the stocks will be heavy.
