PIGEON, CANARY, AND CAGE BIRD CLUB.

The judge's report* on tho canaries at tho Southland Pigeon, Canarv, and CSa.ge Bird Club's annual show on Wednesday and Thursday last is part.ioula.rly interesting iuid instnictivo. He (Mr R. Hopkins) hopw that exhibitors will not think him too critical, but romember th.it. a judge must of necessity bo a fmilt-findor, for his endeavour must be to point out the principal blemishes so M to encourage breeders to eradicate them, whilst retaining tho good point*. Speaking generally, Mr Hopkins considers that the Yorkshires were a good lot in body and carnage, well up to standard, the most common fault being in the head. All were moro or loss flat in skull, and, as a matter of fact, there was not one really good typical head in tjieee ciossw. Tho Norwich section, although not numerically strong, was highly meritorious, in fome instances reaching a very high standard of cxoellonoo. Tho staging and management are pronounced to lie good, and, sav6 Mr Hopkins, if uniform cages were used little more conkl l>a desired. JUDGE'S REPORT.
