FOOTBALL
DUNEDI.V CLUB. In the fortieth animal report of the Dunedin Football Club tho committeo regrets that it cannot congratulate members oil a successful season. The wheon was, from n playing standpoint, a most unsatisfactory one, owing', no doubt, to so many experienced players giving up tho giiinu in ona season. The Senior teem played II matches,-won 2, lost 10, and drew 2, and scored 52 points for to 139 against. Tho majority of tho players were young and inexperienced, and tho knowledge gained will bo of great advantage for tho incoming season. 'l'his team, however, did not train systematically, ami it was very rarely that all the players wcro together for this purpose. The Second Fifteen played 12 matches, won 2, lost 0, and drew 1, and scored 30 points for to 105 against. This team, like the first, was composed mostly of now players, and good results could hardly bo oxpcctod. Tho Tltiril team played 12 matches, won 8, lost 3, juid drew 1, and -cored 64 points for to 5} aguinsl. This very creditabio record was tho result of oansistcn't training. Tho piny of this team readied a very high standard. It was found impossiblo to raise a team to mako the journcv to Christclwrch to meet tho Sydenham Club, but tho latter, to keep tlio mulch from falling through, getiorously sent a teom to Dunodin, and was successful in winning by 8 points to 6. Tho membership is about the same as last year. Thcro are a considerable number of'subscriptions outstanding, which is very unsatisfactory. The balance sheet shows an increase for tho reason, and financially tho club is in & sound position. KAIKORAf CLUB. Iu presenting its annual report tho committee of the Kaikorai Club congratulates all the members on tho performances of tho various trains. The Senior team at last recognised that training was essential to success, and commenced training in earnest nt tile beginning of tho season, and to this fact tho success of the team is due. Tho examplo ehown by tho seniors could I>c, with benefit, followed by the junior teams. The First team played 14 matches, won 8, lost 4, and drew 2; points for 145, against 75. Tho Snowl, 13 matches, won 6, lost 5. and drew 2. Tho Third team, after playing three matches, was withdrawn from tho competition owing to the inability of the players to reach tho "laying grounds at tho.early hour of 1.30 p.m. Tho Fourth Irani played 12 matches, won 9. lost 2. and drew 1. The Fifth played 11 matches, won 5, lost 4, and drew 2, Tho dub played its annual match with a tram from tho Tiinaru Star at Master, and defeated them after a well-contested game. A team was also sent to I'alrn'-rston to play the Wttihnmo-Wnikouaiti team, and defeated them. Tho l'almnrston Club sent their juniors to town to play the Koikorai juniors, and wero defeated r.fter a clo-vi game. Tho committee was intruded at the last annual meeting to take steps towanls the construction of a cinder track on lh<> ground for training purposes. The O.R.l'\li. and tho Kaikorui' Kootb.tl] Ground Company wcro approached in regard 'o tho matter. Tho ground company willingly consented lo pay hall' cost, but the efforts with tho Rugby Union were not met in the same spirit, that Ixklv being willing to contribute onlj a small amount, which, on account of tho low stale of Iho club's finances, was not sufficient for the construction of the trackThe Knikorai Band, on 1 icing informed of the difficulty, confuted to insist, and arrangements are being ma<lo for on open-air concert in the IJotonical Gardens.
