Mr A. M'Cnrthy, tho I/abour candidate for Chalmers, gave an address at St. Leonards Inst evening. Ho stated lit tho outset that ho wished to outline tho ideal lying behind the Labour nlatform rather than indulge in the amenities usual nt a political meeting. He preceded to show that neither a shilling a day niore nor nn hour or to lens for unionists was of losio importance. Neither was there a desire to wrnst tlio political power from tho capitalists in order to exercise an equally hateful dominance over t.he people, but. lather to secure for all (includ.'ng tho children of capitalists) a full and perfect- life <m tho material plane, ami as a natural sequence full mental and spiritual expression, A voto of confidence wns aecoixlod the candidate.
