Mr Hazelton, M.P., leaves for Lawrenco tliiis morning, and Messrs Eedmond and Donovan for Ranfurly. Mr E. 11. Clark, membor for Chalmers, was preient at tho monthly meeting- of the Hay Town Board last evening, In extending a welcome to him tho chairman (Mr T. Somoivillo) thanked him on behalf of tho residents for tho valuable services he had rendered to the district. At tho conclusion of work on Saturday at tho Hillside Workshops tho ermiloyees remained behind to say qood-byc to Messrs J. Pollock uiml J. 11. Dickinson, who aro leaving on promotion—tho former 'to Addington and tho latter to Westport. Mr G. Butts, who presided, saitl Ira oxppcasod tho sentiments of all present when ho said ho was eorry to lose Messrs Pollock and Dickinson, but glad that tho department had recognised their abilities. On behalf of tho men ho presented Mr Pollock with a locket for himself and two brooches for Mrs Pollock, Mr Dickinson received a traveling- rug and a Maltese 2°' d cross for his wifo. Mr W. H. Johnston, who had worked with Loth of them for many years, referred in flattering terms to tho estimation both wero hold in by their shopmatcs, and wished them and their families health, happiness, and prosperity. 1 Both ••eeinjonts thanked all present for their kindness, and three ringing cheers-for them terminated ihf> proceedings. On Saturday evening a surprise visit wail (says our Invercargill correspondent) spru.nu on "Lochaber," tho residence of Mr Kenneth , Cameron, by mombars of tho Southland Pipo Band. Learning that Mr Cameron was a-baut to chango his residenco to Dunedin, in consequence of his appointment as health inspector for Otago and Southland, tho pipers decided not to let tho occasion go without a parting skirl for their first pipe-major. The members of tho band rolled up 20 stron", ar.d wero accompanied by tho officials ol the Caledonian Society,' the Highland Srciejv, and the Uipers and Dancere 1 Aseociation. As a matter of fact, Mr On moron only arrived from Dunedin by tho lato exnrcss. but tho IKi'rty had already persuaded Mrs Cameiron that f.hoir minion was a posooful ono. and had taken posfecsion cf the house.
