There wore 6000 spectators, Tho teams wore as follow:— New Zealand.—Full iback, Scagar; threequarters— Asher, Siddolls, and Mitchell; five-eighths, Gillett and Woodward; half, M'Do'nald; forwards—Francis, • Macon, Savoury, Kukutai, Fcary, Dunning. Queensland.—Full back, M'Grcgor; threequarters—O'Bricir, Woodhoid, Ilokcr, and Gilmore; five-eighths, Dickens; half, Heidkc; forwards—Olson, Jarrott, Scholtz, Nicholson, M'Kay, Haylock. The opening stages favoured Queeislond, the New Zcalandcrs lacking combination and being kept defending for tho first 10 minutes. The New Zcalandcrs then played into form, and towards the closo of the first half they showed, splendid combination. Thoir passing and dribbling rushes completely beat the Queonslandc-rs, hut infringements of the rules lost the visitors several tries. The second half was very fast and exciting, but was freo from roughness. Now Zealand scored two tries in quiok'sucoession r.s the result. of brilliant, combined play. In the last quarter of an hour the play was very oven, 'both sides showing great combination. Afcher's knee gave way, and Cottercll replaced him. For New Zealand Dunning' (2), Savoury, Woodward, and Francis scored tries, three of which wero converted by Soager, who also lacked a goal from the field. The final scores were:— New Zealand 24 points. Queensland 13 points. MATCH AT WANGANUI. (Per United Prbss Association.) WANGANUI, July 2. Tho first representative match of tlic season under Northern Union rules was played horc on Saturday irr glorious weather and before a very fair attendance of tho public. A Taranaki team, which included several emergencies, was beaten after an attractive gamo by 19 points to 8.
