In the Court of King's Bench Mrs Eleanor Curtis, as executrix for her father, the late Mr R. Master, a retired civil servant, sued Mr Horatio Bottomley, M.P., for the sum of £57,835, which she alleged the defendant had obtained from her father by selling him worthless shares. The defendant denied misrepresentation, but a verdict was given for tho plaintiff for £50,000 damages. A stay of execution was granted on condition that the full amount was paid into court within a week. July 1. ■ (Received July 2, at 5.5 p.m.) The evidence showed that Mr Master met Bottomley through tho latter writing that he wished to help those who had lost money on previous Bottomley companies. Mr Master lost £90,000 through share dealings with Hoolcy and Bottomley 'in connection with investments in the John Bull Investment Trust Agency, Carter's Deep Leads, and other companies, practically all the shares being worthless. Hoolcy compromised Mrs Curtis's action. Bottomley did not go into the witness box. Plaintiff's counsel stated that Bottomley had sucked the poor, old, deaf, and infirm dry for five months, and that llooley and Bottomley wore conspirators together, takiiig shares of the plunder.
