QUESTION OF FARES. Press Association—By Tolojrr.ph— Copyright MELBOURNE, July 1. The Tramway Fare., Revision Committee has presented its report. Its recommendations include that through faies r.p to two miles be Id cash, and over two miles 2d. The transfers at present given with the 3d fares to bo given to 2d workmen's fares for Id each journey, and the time of the workmen's fares extended to 7.45 a.m. The alternative recommended is thai, tho Government purchase the company's rights running to 1916. The actual dividends paid by tin company on a capital of £250,000 In 24 years varied from 9,6 to 72 per cent. There is no doubt, rays the report, that the company had exercised an absolutely free hand, Parliament having slept on its rights of revision.
