RAILWAY FIRE BRIGADE.

SMOKE CONCERT. Tho annual smoke concert of tho Dunedin Railway Fire Brigado was held in tho Railway Employees' Club Room on Friday evening; Mr D. T. Pearson, tho newly-elected captain, occupied tho chair. There was a splendid attendance of offioos and firemen from tho city and suburban brigades. The Gbairman in his remarks referred to the friendly feeling that existed amongst tho firemen of Dunedin and 'tho surrounding districts, and said they were' always willing to help each other in timo of need. , Tho § toast of the United Fire Brigades Association was responded to by Deputy Salmond, of the City Brigade, who referred to tho benefits to bo derived from being affiliated with tho association. During tho evening Air D. Wallaco (excapfcain) was presented with an illuminated address on his retirement from the brigado. Tho presentation ws made by Mr Piper; District Traffio Manager, and his remarks wcro supplemented by Mr Macandrew, District Engineer, and several other officers. Tho remainder of the evening wa3 spent in harmony, many of the guests taking part.
