V.R.C. GRAND NATIONAL MEETING. Prosa Association— Uv — t'tiuynyi' 'MELBOURNE, July 2. (Received July 2, at 5.5 p.m.) Tho V.R.C. Grand National meeting was opened at Flomington yesterday. Tho following is tho result of tho GRAND NATIONAL HURDLE RACE, Threo miles. Arquobusc, D.O 1 Sparkle, 11.9 2 Obi, 11.5 ' 3 Also started: Tho Reckoning 11.13. Kulcur,na 11.11, Minato 10.7, Bribery 10.7. Tundulya 10.5, Battory 9.13, Bob Gilder 9.13, Kcadool 9.13, Lady Glen 9.9, Field Trial 9.9, Nimrod 9.7, Golden Cairn 9.7, Hunterston 9.3, Stern Anchor 9.0, Rufus 9.0, Lady Esker 9.0, Boortkoi 9 0. Starting well. Golden Cairn led out, followed by Rufus, I/ady Esker, and Arqucbuse. Leaving the straight, Bribery and Hunterston wont to tho front, but Golden Cairn was still leading. Passing.tho stand Tho Reckoning assumed command, Arquobusc . bain,g closest, with Bribery running last. ' With half a mile to go, Arqucbuso held the lead, with The Reckoning and Sparkle a couplo of lengths away. Arqucbuso showed tho way into the straigh:, tho •nearest horses being Sparklo and Huntors'on. Then Sparklo raado a detorminod offort to overtake tho loader, but Arqucbueo showed no signs of tiring, and won comfortably by four lengths, Sparklo boating Obi by six lengths for second place. Tinto, smin 48scc. Minato and Bob Gilder fell.
