(Peb United Press Association.) GISBORNE, Juno 30/ Stormy weather has prevailed hero for thp last few days, and heavy seas are prevailing along tho coast. The small coastil steamer Fanny has been in port three days, and despite two attempts to get away for Napier, on each occasion was compelled to. return. To-day she got out into the bay from tho river, but tho heavy seas which broke over her put out her galley fire and shifted tho deck hamper. Tito vessel returned to port. Tho weather tonight shows eomo signs of moderating,. » The Mamari will leave Duncdk between 7 and 8 o'clock this morning for Lyttelton to complete discharge, Tho Drayton Grange left Port Chalmers at ■ 7.30 a.m.' yesterday for Bluff: to continue loading. The Warrimoo, from Sydney, via Wellington and Lyttelton, is expected hero about 8 o'clock this morning. She will leave Port Chalmers on -Sunday afternoon for Bluff, Hobart, and Melbourne. Tho Waitemata is due here this morning, and will leave on Monday for Bluff, Oamaru, and Timaru, to load for Napier, Gisborne, and Auckland.. The Patcena, on arrival at AVcllington from_ Nelson and Pktan on Wednesday, sth inst., will withdraw for slipping, and will leave Wellington on Saturday, July 8, for Picton, Nekon, Wcst:>ort, Greymouth, and return, in place of the Aralmra. On her return to Wellington on Thursday. July 13, the Patcena will proceed to Qnehuriw, to leave there on Sunday. July 16, for New Plymouth in place of the Rarawa, which will undergo survey at Auckland. Tho To Anau will leave Port Chalmers on Monday for Wellington, to leave there on Wednesday for Picton < and Nekon, in place of the Pateena, and will remain in that ru.n until the latter steamer is available after relieving tho Rarawa, Tho Aralmra will withdraw at Wellington on arrival from the West Coa6t on Thursday, for survey, and will resume in that run from Wellington, on Saturday, 15th inst. Owing to the crew refusing to work at the old rates of pay, the four-masted barque Loch Torridon, which sailed from Antwerp on June 18 for an Australian port (probably Adelaide), returned to port tho same day. This is the first vessel engaged in tho Australian trade to be delayed through the maritime trouble now causing consternation in tho United Kingdom. The Takapnna, it is stated, will ba able to come down to Port Chalmers under her own steam, with tho Flora as a convoy. They arc expected hero about Wednesday or Thursday next. The Commercial News and Shipping List, referring to the maritime strike, says the dnlness in the export coal trade at Newcastle just now is due to tho want of confidence on the part of oustomers in having their orders fulfilled, and turn elsewhere for supplies. This is tho result of tho industrial strife and upheavals in the coal trade. Our coal is of goodi quality—the best, in fact; but when it is not possible for customers to rely on tho delivery of orders <v.d have the fear that from each day to the other there is ; a prospect, of trouble, the coal might as well bo of the most inferior nature, for without customers' confidence being won and retained no orders can bo expected, and consequently little work offers for the miners, and naturally less pay to draw. This is the position at Newcastle, and ■woro it possible toi get tho opinion of tho men themselves it would be found that thev realise it is so, and.that they blamo nothing else for tho nrescnt y distress amongst them.
