The Parliament Bill is now in its committee stage in the House of Lords. Lord Cromer's amendment to the Veto Bill to< appoint a joint committee to decide what is a money, bili was carried by 183 to 44. Jupe 29. (Received June 29, at 11.10 p.m.) In the House of Lords during the discussion on the Veto Bill Earl Cromer emphasise! the necessity for having an 1 impartial tribunal to decide what a money bill was. Lord Haklane said the proposed amendment would enable the committer to control Parliament-. It was impossible to separate general policy from finance. I/:ivd Lorebu.rn held that the amendment would dethrone the House of Commons from its hitherto unassailable authority on questions' of finance. t Lord St. Aldwvn suggested a committee consisting of the Lord Chancellor,' the Speaker., and Chairman of Committees of the House of Lords and the House of Commons, with a fifth person chosen by the other four. Lord Morley declared that nothing would induce the Government to accept the committer. If Lord Lansdowne's proposed amendment were persisted with in al 1 . possibility the prospect of agreement would vanish.
