PORT CHALMERS BOWLING CLUB.
The anr.l'Jal meeting of tho Port Chalmers Bowling Club was held in tho Foresters' Hall last evening, Mr N. Murray (president) occupying tho chair, and there wero about 40 members present, amongst whom was Mr J. 11. Monson, a veteran member of tho club, who, though well over 80 years of age, still takes an interest in tho club. Tho President, in moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet (already published) congratulated tho members on the condition of the club financially and generally, and on its operations during the season. Ono feature of a regrettable nature was the extraordinary number of resignations received during tho year—members of long-standing and experienced bowlers,— and their loss had been felt keenly during tho season. That fact explained the reason of failure to do as well as formerly in the interclub games. Tho club had, however, kept all its engagements, and enjoyed the pleasure of tho games. Alter reference to tho social functions of the year, ho complimented tho caretaker on the state of the green, and mentioned that 11 new members had been elected to fill the places of those who had resigned. The club games wero entered into with spirit, and were all got. through early'and without friction of illy kind. He'paid a high tribute to tho valub of tho secretary's services to- the club, and thanked the members for the assistance given to him as president. Mr J. > M'Lachlan seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously. The following officers 1 were elected :— President, Mr W. Morgan; vice-president, Mr I. K. M'lntyre; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. T. Wyllic; General Committee —Messrs M'Lachlan, Gray, Peters, Ilillier, Ovenden, and Patorson; Match Committee —Messrs Ovenden, Booth, and Paterson; caretaker, Mr A. Farquharson; auditor, Mr J. Gray; delegate tc Dunediu Centre—Messrs J, M'Lachlan and J. Gray; trustees—Messrs W. Sutton and I, K. M'lntyre; selector for Wednesday players, Mr Peters. Si was decided not to enter for tho four- ; championship. In response to a circular from the Dunedin Centra it was deeided to request the delegates to support the association's annual tournament being started on Dccoinber 27. It was decided to support Mr T. K. Sidey's Daylight Saving Proposal. Three new members were elected. • PRESENTATIONS. At a Social gathering after tho annual meeting tho chair was taken by tho retiring president (Mr N, Murray), and a largo number of Port- residents wero prosent. The Chairman, addressing Messrs A. Walker and P. Stewart, who had resigned from tho club owing to removal from the district, said tho members of the club wore sorry to leso them, and tho occasion was one that called for a tangiblo expression of the goodfellowship tho retiring members had displayed while members of the club. He had very much pleasure in presenting Mr Stewart with a Mosgiel rug on behalf of tho members, and Mr Walker with a set of pipes for himself, and a ladv's satchel for Mrs Walker, TLtho presents ■wouo small things, but they represented the respect and esteem of the club members, and would serve in feme degree to keep alive a recollection of their connection with the Port- Cull and the respect they were held in by its uicmfes. Messrs M'Lachlan, Gray, and Monson a.lso expressed. their esteem for Messrs Walkorand Stewart, and regretted that thev wo leaving tho club and tho district. Messrs Walkor and Stewart briefly and suitably responded, and a pleasant hour was spent in honouring toasts and tho rendering of a number of songs by members of the club and visitors.
