FUND CLOSES NEXT SATURDAY.

BOARD DETERMINED TO RAISE £5000.

It has been decided by the management to closc- the fund to-day week, by which time it js confidently expected that, the desired £SQCO will haTO been, obtained.

Mr J. H. Walker, chairman of the Hospital and Charitable Board, states t.hat a policy of hustlo is to be pursued: bv the managers of the fund over the next week, and is very optimistic as to the final result.

Tho benefit performances of "The Gon. doliers " during the past throe nights have resulted in over £100 accruing to the fund, and last niglit. saw the biggest house of tho season,.scino £40 bsiing taken at tho doors. A gratifying feature in connection with tho performance is t.hat the hands engaged in the front of the house havo generously donated part of their salaries to the fund, and it is stated that tho stage hands also intend to similarly contribute. The tickets for the performance* to bt* given at tho Art Gallery on Wednesday inght by the nurses and" students at tho Hospital arc meeting with a ready sale'. A oonoert and an original play will be presented, and tho students will provide their own orchestra. The whole of the printing ia connection with the entertainment is being .don© free, and the reo.uisites necessary for the play are alss being donated.
