MR M'KENZIE AT WAIROA.

The Minister of Public Works was waited upon by a deputation with reference to the inland railway route, and promised that a survey should be made and reports prepared en the possibilities of the district through which the lino would patss. This had reference to the Ruakituri route. A report will be made on the possibility of bringing the line as close to tho port of -Wavrsa as possible. Replying to a request by the Borough] Council for a- concession with respect to hydro-eiectric light ajid power from Waikaremoana, the Minister said tho whole scheme under the act would cost threequarters of a million, and it was not feasible at present. Probably ( the power weald be provided next session to allow the council to get a- spccial concession, but it would not be allowed to Gell the power. The Minister was favourably impressed with a request for the completion of tl.c road to connect Waikarenioana with Rclcrua. ln«.trtictinna, he said, would be given to make a report on the road. Mt M'Kenzie, who was at Waikaremoa.na today for tho first time, was much impressed with tho district and the lake. The Minister will leave to-morrow mc-rn.-ing for Napier.
