Haddock occupied the chair, and after soma trouble the attendance of the necessa/ry 20 to form a quorum waa obtained. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the sixteenth annual report and balance sheet, said ho had to congratulate the company on a successful year. Ho did not think he need say anything about tho balanco shoet as shareholders hod all had it before them, and everything: was detailed in it, and the report gave them very fully everything that tad been dono. He invited discussion upon the report and balanco sheet. Mr A. Washer seconded the motion for tho adoption of the report and balance sheet. . '
Ono or two questions were asked by shareholdsrs and answered, and the Chairman mentioned' that thtre was one plaoo in the lino where the rope had to be dropped, and it took half a dozen men to move the oar on. Steps to obviato this would probably bo taken, ini-the near fufcuxo, and then the car would grip the rope the whole lonjjtli of the line. Tho work would cost about £125 or £130.
Mr W. B. M. Fea said ho would like to see tho lino extended right up to Bunting's, tho Co6t of which he estimated at £3000 or £4000. Ho felt'strongly on the subject, and would not mind taking up debentures without interest for threo or , four years.
Tho report and balance sheet were
adopted. ' Messrs H. V. Haddock and 0. F. Greenslade were re-elected directors, the directors' remuneration being fixed at the same sum as last yeaT—namely, £88 to bo divided. Mr Peter Barr was re-elecied auditor at the same fee as previously (10 guineas). „ A Shareholder asked i£ the directors entertained the idea of extending the tram lino without consulting tho shareholders. The Chairman replied, Decidedly not They bad no power to do so as a. matter of fact. Tho best way would be for thoso gentlemen who wanted the line to construct it and the company' would run it, and when it paid 5 per cent, tho company would take it over.
After somo farther slight discission a vote of thanks was accorded the manager and staff, and also tho chairman.
