Sin,—Anniversary Day is with most people in Otago a close holiday, ami the cpiwrfimity is taken by a large number to spend rJie day in fchu country or to take a trip down the .harbour. The railway ma.tKigome.nt, however, for some reason or other refused to give the reduced fares (which are the rule at. holiday times) exeept to certain places. Wily, it is hard to understand. In addition, the 'carria"o acoommr.'dation was so restricted that. pa°s»iigers were forced to stand on the platforms, even through the tunnels.
The responsibility for the- traffic arrangements may rest on the local authorities V they may have- emanated from Wellington but it seems to tho writer that Ihov don't reflect much credit on the mnniigemenr.•Dunedin, March 23.
