SEASON'S EEGULATIONS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) , ■ ' WELLINGTON,,March 21 The regulations for deer-shooting ,in ''. Otago w&re gazetted to-day. They provide that iW led deer stags may be, . tabsn or killed within the Otago acclimatisation district from April 1 to May 20 (both days inclusive). Two fallow deer bucks may be taken or killed from April 1 to May 31 (both days inclusive). ; ; Three licenses to take or kill red deer stage may be issued by the chief post- ■'■■■/< master at Dunedin on. the recqmmendation .of the secretary of the Otago Accli- -'; matisation Society, on payment of a license fee of £4, and licensee to take or kill fallow deer bucks may b>2 issued by ; the chief postmaster upon the like recommendation, on payment of a- license / fee of £4. No licensee shall take or kill mare than four red deer stags ot fallow ■_~< deer bucks, and no red cker 6tag shall ■ £ hi; killed carrying antlers with less than '.>ieight points, ball cartridge only to be ,;| used. The licensee must give notice to ■•/?$ the chief pcetmaster of the date,cto which ~ it is his intention to 6talk, such notice to be posted or delivered or telegraphed three clear days before such date. No doe, hind, or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever, and net licensee shall, allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him. , ■ Nothiug herein contained shall extend to authoring any person to cell any deer or portion thereof. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding £20. '

A schedule is attached excepting all that area containing about 24,800 acres in. one block, being iparte of mid-Hawea, Langslip, Lower hawea, and Lindis districts, plans Oi which area will be keaed by tho secretary of the Otago Acclimatisation Society to persons to whom licensee to shcot deer are granted.
