LAUNCESTON, March 23,

Resolutions adopted by the Manufacturers' Conference favoured a thoroughly protective tariff and an adequate preference for locally-made goods, the appointment of a non-political permanent tariff .board, the preservation of national forests, and the prohibition of dangerous and indecent drugs. Another resolution urged Hi© Commonwealth Government to support preference to British goods carried in British ships, with the suggestion "that the subject might bo raised by the Australian representatives at the Imperial Conference.

ALL-AUSTRALIAN EXHIBITIONS, LAUNCESTON. March 23.

The conference decided in favour of <i series of " All-Australian exhibitions " in the capital cities of the Commonwealth, taking them in rotation, the first to be in Melbourne in 1913. It was also decided to hold an Australian, manufacturers' week simultaneously throughout the Commonwealth.
