MAYORAL ELECTIONS.
Mr E. Puddy, chairman of Cr J. Wilson's South Dunedin Conwnittee, which met on Wednesday evening, eaid he was pleased to see so many of the electors present, especially so many ladies (12). It gav« him. very great pleasure to have the. opportunity of supporting , Mr Wilson. He knew.' of no councillor who had given, more time and attention to tho requirements of .the district. Mr Downie said he folt that it was the duty of electors to return Cr Wilson, and recounted the good work he.had done. This widening of King Edward road had been a big undertaking, and they were largely indebted to the chairman of the Works Committee for tho improved condition of South Dunedin. Other members spoke in praise of Mr Wilson's. energy and capacity for hard work, and were confident the electors would recognise tho efforts made on their behalf. Reports were received from the sub-committees,, and a large number of enrolment forms was handed in. The secretary said Mr Wilson would bo unable to attend as it was council night, but wished him to convey to the meeting his appreciation of the manner in which the committee was working to secure his return. A special effort was to bs made to get enrolment forms in, as Tuesday was the last day. It was decided to meet weekly. It was mentioned that the rooms would be open on Saturday evening. .
