PICNICS
SARGOOD, SON, AND EWEN.
Taking advantage of the holiday yesterday, tho employees of Messrs Sargoodi Son, and Ewen's warehouse held a picnio on the Carisbrook Ground. The •outing was given at the invitation of tho management, ajid was largely attended by tho employees and their lady friends. Two commodious luncheon tents woro erected on tho ground, and the entertainment of all was well catered for by the provision of a tennis court, a bowling green, and a set of quoits. Tho Kaikorai Band was in. attendance, and rendered most enjoyable music during the day." The usual running sports-were indulged in, and two cricket matches—one ■ Married versus Single- and tho other between two junior teamshelped to make tho afternoon very enjoyable. Mr and Mrs. Pargood and Mr D. A. Ewmg wero on the ground l during the day. The picnic, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all, was voted a decided suoeess. Married Ladies' Race.— Mrs Mohasscy 1, Mrs Young 2. A nail-driving competition for ladies was won by Mrs ■ Wright, ' and a tug-of-war between the various flats resulted in the " top flat" proving victorious after a very strenuous pull. At tho'cltee Mrs Sargood presented the winners with their prizes.
