BRISBANE, March 22,

A steamer has been despatched to pick up the Staniforth Smith search parties, which .are still out, and unaware of tho party's safe return. After tho disaster on the river Mr Smith."Was bootless, and suffered terribly from ulcerated feet until he had constructed some boots out of fibre.

Spending at a luncheon, Mr Smith declared that the equipment of the expedition would have been ample but for tho mishaps on the river. If tho coal discoveries were found to be reachable, it would be via the Strickland River.
