CHRISTCHURCI-I MARKETS.
(Peb United Pkess Association*.) OHRISTCHURH, March 21. Though the London market has undergone no improvement, exporters aro offering a little, more for wheat, as they have, bsen unablo to obtain any quantity at. 2s 11(1 at country stations. At handy stations they are now giving 3s for good lines, and 2s lid and 2s ll|d where longer railage has to ho paid. At, these prices a fair amount has changed hands during tie last few days. Oats and chaff are still firm, and tho former scarce. The continued dry weather is likely to have a firming: effect upon the market.
Potatoes for immediate delivery aro easier, and there is practically no forward business doing. The news that a grub has appeared in tho Oamaru district is causing eonie anxiety lest it. should prove to be the Australian potato fly. Tho retail prico of butter has advanood Id per 1b all round.
AUCKLAND CUSTOMS RETURNS. (Peis Ukited Pmss Association.)
AUCKLAND, March 21. Tho amount collected in Customs dues at Auckland to-day was £16,482, and the total reyonue for the day t wss £17,193, constituting a record for {he Dominion for any one day's collections. The largest portion of the amount represents dues paid on goods discharged .from the eteamer KaiIkoura. Tho previous New Zealand record was held by Wellington, with nearly £4000 less.

HOTEL PROPERTY SALE.
Messrs E. L. Macassoy and Co. report having sold on behalf of Mr J. A. Greer all hie interest in the lease of the Supreme Court Hot-el, Quccnstown, together with all furniture, stock, and effects, as a going concern, to Mr J. L. Crowe, of Lochiel, Southland. Mr Crowe will take possession this week.

Messrs E. L. Macassoy and Co. report having sold tho following farms during last, week:—On account of Mr G. M'Dormicl, of Sawyers' Bay, his leasehold farm of 121 acres, together with stock, crops, and implements, to Mr W. P. Sherwill, of Glenoro. On account of Mr A. Hall, of Highcliff, bis leasehold dairy farm of 63 acres, together with all crops, stock, and implements, to Mr J. L. Nolan, of Timarii. On account Mr Geo. P. Hutchoson, of Seal Point, his dairy farm of 44- acres, together with crops, horses, cows, traps, and implements, to Mr B. C. Bacon, of Broad Bay. On account of Mr Peter Jensen, jun,, all his interest in his leasehold dairy farm of 92 acres, at Green Island Bush, together with all crops, horsss, carte, stock, and implements, also his imilk run, to Mr John Throp.
A London cablegram states that silver is quoted at 2*4(1 per ounce.
