WELLINGTON, March 20.

Mr John Harrington, of Denniston, is visiting Wellington in connection withthe legacy left to the Harrington family by his late uncle, Patrick Mi'Guire, of New York. Tho history of this fortune reads like a romance. Mr M'Guire when .i youth went from Gahvay (Ireland) to New York, and through the influence of wealthy relatives obtained employment on one of the important railways seme 50 years arjo, and being a shrewd young man, saw the possibilities of speculation in railway stocks., Success -crowned his efforts, so much so that at tho time of his decease a year ago -we are informed (says the Post) he left seven million dollars, all invested in valuable railway stocks. The whole of this estate gees to the Harrington family, which, consists of Mr John Harrington, of Denniston, Mr Barclay Harrington, of Hawera, a-ndMrs A. M. Gow, late of Barrett's Hotel, and now of Sydney, who will receive nearly half a million sterling each. The legatkej , solicitors are .Messrs Hubble and Co., Broadway, Now York, who discovered the -whereabouts of the Harrington family in this country through the agency of the Union Bank of Australia. Mr Harrington will be stayinir in Wellincrton for a few days, and will shortly make a visit to New York, after .an ahsenno from that city of 27 years.
