Lard Decics, who has seen active service in South Africa and Somaliland, and is now in his forty-fifth year, married at St. Bartholomew's, in this city, •to Hims Vivien Gould, daughter of the late Jay Gould. Tho leaders of American and English society crowded tfe church. The edifice had been converted into a- conservatory of rare tropical plants. Earl Percy and Lord Camoys acted as ushers. There were six bridesmaids, and Lord Alaetair Graham acted as best man. The bride wore a. white duchess satin gown, overlain with silver roses and embroidery, and a Court train. A double ring service was performed. Writing on December 25, our American correspondent stated The marriage engagement has just been announced of Lord Decics, of England, and Miss Vivien Gould, second daughter of George J. Gould, of New York—a railioad head of national prominenco,—and granddaughter of Jay Gould, one of the earliest of our "liigh finance" railroad promoters. No disgiace attaches to the name oi George J. Gould, however. Ho is a builder, whore his father was a destroyer. He has msde his own. fortune from creating railroad properties and not in wrecking Ihem. Hj.s daughter, Miss Vivien, i<; not IS years old, and is a beauty of a remarkable type. John Graham Hope Ilcsley Beresford Baron Decics is » lieutenant-colonel of the 7th Hussars, served in the Matabele war of 1896 and the Boer war four years later, and won his Distinguished Service Order for conspicuous gallantry in the Somaliland campaign against the Mad Mullah. He is 14 years old. The barony is an Irish one, and cairies with, it no seat in the House of Loids.
