Boys' Brigade and; Olive Branch.will meet together on Monday'evening next in .the Friendly ■ Societies' Hall,' South Dunedin, when-'a recitation competition will be held for two'prizes kindly donated by two adult members of the order. Bro. Slyfield,. of tho Ivanhoe Lodge, has kindly consented to act as judgo, and ■ will afterwards entertain the boys 'by reciting ■ several interesting items. '■.-'.'..- Tho Bay Lodge 16 to be congratulated on the excellent programme- submitted at the, open night given in tho Presbyterian Sunday School Hall, Anderson's Bay, on Tuesday evening to celebrate the fifth ■ anniversary. D.G. President 'Bro. 'E. bunderlond occupied tho chair, and was. supported by D.G. Secretary Bro. Larnaoh, D.G. Treasurer Bro. E. Kellctt, J.P.A. Bro. R. S. Oox mi A .D. Bro. S. Fox.' Bvo. Sunderland welcomed the visitors, expressed pleasure at tho splendid ' re- ■ ra 60 *! \°j tho . "ivitution, congratulated .the lodge on its steady progress, and made special reference to the dis-' played by the officers in carrying out their duties. The programme .was greatly appreciated, judging by tho hearty applause bestowed on the porformers ■ en- ' cores being demanded on several occasions. These who cpntribirtod items were: Mr W, M. Beck and Miss Beck, (piano duct)' Masters Ferguson (violin and piccolo), Miss .Densc-m song), Mrs Evans (song). .Mr Garnet (song), Master and Mies M'Donald (duet), Mr Gunning-ham (song), Miss Parker (soiig),- Master M'Donald . (song), Mr G. Swann (comio song); whilst Messrs Beck, and Parker arid Misses Beck and Parkor contributed a pleasing quartet. A word of praise is duo to Bro. \V. M, Bock, who presided at the piano.' A hearty vote of thanks was .'carried by acclamation on the motion of the D.G. Seoretary, Broc, D. Larnaoh, to the performers for tha pleasant evening's' entertainment. A word of praise is also due to J.P.A. Bro. ; Oox and A.D. Bro. Fox for their kindness and. attention to tho visitors.. .•.:.--.
The members of tlio Bay' Lodge heartily endorsed the romarks of tlio D.G. Presiv dent (Bro. E. Sunderland), when, ho expressed .pleasure at .the presence at the Bay Lodge anniversary of several brethren from tho. _ Mosgiel and Port '. Chalmers Lodges, which, lie said, skrned their interest in the .progress of the, Bay Lodge. \ A.D. Bro. Churchill. presided- over a. large; attendance oLmembois and visitors 'at the usual fortnightly meeting of _the Royal Oak Lodge on Monday evening. One.candidate was initiated. The business having teen disposed', -of,- the lodge adjourned, and. welcomed'the J>oys of the juvenile lodge Our. Boys' Brigade, under tho • charge of P.D.P. Bro. Dove, and, judging by.the smiling faces of'the boys,' they evidently appreciated the kindness of the Royal Oak Lodge. The usual loyal toasts wero honoured,' arid D.P. Bro,': Smeaton responded to the'second .toasts Tho third toast was responded .to by Bros. Metoalf, Robertson,, and' M'Lean. . ' -
