NAVAL TRAINING.
MORE ENCOURAGEMENT WANTED. (Fhom Oua Own Corkespondent.) WELLINGTON, August 31. Whilst a'return ielating tt) the training ' ehip Amokijra was before the Houso'yesterday, Mr T. E. Taylor expressed the opinion that , the Government should find employment for'the-skilled, men who-left the navy ufter serving their .period of service of five yeais. These men, 'remarked Mr Taylor, would make ;-.n excellent Naval Reserve in time of trouble. He thought it would"be an'excellent/investment so far as the Dominion was concerned/ " : Mr Poole said he thought the Government should epcourage naval. training. He would like to see the Government obtain some old cruisers as a fixed training depot. There wore hundreds ol youag men in New Zealand who could not be induced to undergo military training, but would delight in naval training at nights.
