Lo Blanc won the Matin's prize of £4000 for a circular flight from Paris to Troyes, Nancy, Charleville, Douai, and Amiens, back to Paris. He made fi.vo stops, his actual time in the air king 12 hours, and the distance covered 489 miles. A huge crowd gave him an ovation on his alighting. AN APT PUPIL. MR LATHAM'S SHIP WRECKED. LONDON, August 17. Moissant, who lias learnt the art within only a month, monoplaned from Paris via Amiens lo Calais, and thence crossed the Channel to Deal, carrying a passenger. He made two stops. Mr Latham, who i.s also coming to London, was wrecked in a tree at Amiens. A TRYING EXPERIENCE. LONDON, August 18. (Received August 18 at 11.20 p.m.) The Paris-London flight was Moissant's fifth ascent. His age is 35 years, and he was born ,in Chicago. He wore a, layer of Japanese paper over His clothes owing to the cold. Filcux, a mechanic, accompanied Moissant, who did not know the country, and who throughout steered by a compass and maps. The flight was made in a Bleriot monoplane, with a Gnome motor. The wind thrice caught the machine, aid threatened to capsize it, the monoplane being sucked down several hundred feet before it was righted. Moissant will continue his journey today, seeking to reach the Crystal Palace.
