ALLEGED ILL-TREATMENT.
A MOTHER. CHARGED: (Pia Pnitu) Press Association.) WELLINGTON, July 27. At the Magistrate's Court to-day Valentine Moiser was charged with ili-tvoatinjr chiH aged four years and .10 months. The charge arose out of the recent fire at defendant's house, when the child was rescued from.a burning.bed.' Evidence was given, by neighbours that they had. frequently heard the child crying. One witness stated that she noticed a, front room ■'■in" Moj&sr's houso on fire. Air the doors and windows wore locked. With a man who was in the vicinity, she broke into tho house, and saw the child brought out. There was a charred band of vai-r crmgini? to the child, and a loop was tied round its neck. The child was in> a filthy condition, and there were sores about the face-, arms, and head. It was also stated that the child was in an emaciated rendition.
